About the Posts & Vacancy Details
This recruitment aims to fill up essential administrative and clerical positions within ISRO. The total 244 vacancies are distributed as follows:
- Assistant: 130 Posts (113 in ISRO Centers + 17 in Autonomous Institutions)
- Junior Personal Assistant (JPA): 82 Posts (81 in ISRO Centers + 1 in Autonomous Institutions)
- Upper Division Clerk (UDC): 22 Posts
- Stenographer: 10 Posts
Salary & Benefits
Working at ISRO is not just about the prestige; it also offers excellent financial security. All selected candidates will be placed in Level 4 of the Pay Matrix. This means you will receive a basic pay starting at ₹25,500 per month, plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other Central Government perks.
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, make sure you meet the official eligibility requirements:
- Educational Qualification: You must have a graduation degree with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale from a recognized university. The degree must be completed within the stipulated course duration. Proficiency in using computers is also a mandatory requirement.
- Age Limit: The minimum age to apply is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 28 years for UR/EWS categories as of August 16, 2026.
- Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules—up to 31 years for OBC candidates and up to 33 years for SC/ST candidates (for reserved posts).
Selection Process
The ISRO selection process is completely merit-based and will be conducted in the following stages:
- Written Examination: An objective-type Computer-Based Test (CBT) serving as the primary screening phase.
- Skill Test: Candidates who clear the written test (shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio) will be called for a Skill Test. This includes a Computer Literacy Test for Assistants/UDCs and an additional Stenography Test for JPA/Stenographer roles.
- Document Verification: Final verification of all academic and reservation certificates.
Exam Pattern
The exam format differs slightly depending on the post you apply for. For both patterns, the total duration is 120 minutes, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
For Assistant & UDC:
- General English: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- General Knowledge: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
For JPA & Stenographer:
- English Language & Comprehension: 100 Questions (100 Marks)

Written Exam Syllabus
To secure high marks, you should focus your preparation on these key syllabus areas:
- General English: Grammar, Vocabulary, Synonyms & Antonyms, Idioms & Phrases, Error Spotting, Reading Comprehension, and Sentence Improvement.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, Mensuration, Data Interpretation, and Algebra.
- Reasoning: Number/Alphabet Series, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Venn Diagrams, Syllogism, Directions, and Non-Verbal Reasoning (Mirror/Water images).
- General Knowledge: Current Affairs (especially Space & ISRO achievements), Indian History, Geography, Polity, and Basic Science.
