Under the Pragyan Bharati initiative, this scheme rewards meritorious students with free scooters to encourage higher education and ensure easier mobility for students travelling to their colleges.
Why is Online Application Mandatory This Year?
Unlike previous years, the state government has made it strictly mandatory for all eligible students to submit an online application through the dedicated portal. This step has been taken to:
- Identify genuine beneficiaries accurately.
- Avoid overlap and duplication with the newly launched Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni (MMNMA). (Note: A beneficiary cannot avail both the scooter and the Nijut Moina scheme).
- Help the government efficiently plan the procurement and distribution of the scooters.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the free scooter, candidates must fulfill the following official guidelines set by the Government of Assam:
- Academic Cut-off: Both boys and girls who have scored 80% or more marks in the Higher Secondary Final Examination 2026 are eligible.
- Board Requirement: The exam must be conducted by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
- Exclusions: Students who passed under the "betterment" or "reappearance" categories will not be eligible for this award.
- Residency: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam. Students studying in institutions outside Assam are eligible, provided they have a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of Assam.

- Visit the Portal: Scroll down and click on the "Apply Now" button below, which will redirect you to the official portal (banikantakakatiaward.org).
- Login/Register: Enter your HS 2026 Roll Number, Registration Number, and other required credentials to verify your ASSEB academic records.
- Fill in the Details: Carefully fill in your personal information, address, and contact details. Ensure there are no spelling mistakes.
- Nijut Moina Declaration: Be prepared to state your preference. Remember, submitting this form indicates you are opting for the scooter and thereby choosing not to take the MMNMA monthly stipend.
- Submit Application: Verify all details, hit submit, and print the confirmation page for future reference.
