Welcome back to Sikshalens.in! The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, has officially declared the D.El.Ed Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 results. If you have checked your district-wise merit list and found your name, congratulations! However, clearing the entrance exam is only the first step.
The real journey begins now with the Online Counselling and Admission Process. Many students get confused about seat allotments, document verification, and fee structures. In this comprehensive guide, we have broken down the entire process from start to finish so you don't miss out on securing a seat in your dream Teacher Education Institute (TEI) for the 2026-2028 academic session.
What to Do Immediately After Your Result?
If you have qualified in the PET exam, here are the immediate steps you must take before the counselling window closes:
- Download the Scorecard: Ensure you have downloaded and printed your official PET Scorecard. You will strictly need this during physical document verification.
- Check the District Merit List: Verify your rank in your respective district's merit list PDF. Note that there is a strict 30% reservation for the Science stream and 70% for Arts/Other streams per district.
- Gather Your Documents: Start assembling all your original academic certificates, ID proofs, and caste/EWS certificates (if applicable). Do not wait for the seat allotment day to find missing documents.
A to Z Online Counselling & Admission Process
The SCERT Assam conducts the admission through a strict online counselling system followed by physical reporting. Here is the step-by-step breakdown:
Step 1: Online Registration for Counselling
Qualified candidates must log in to the official SCERT portal and register for Phase 1 of the online counselling. During this step, you must select and lock your preferences for the Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) you wish to join. Pro Tip: Always select multiple colleges to increase your chances of allotment.
Step 2: Publication of Seat Allotment (Round 1)
Based on your PET merit rank, category reservations, and your submitted TEI preferences, the SCERT will release the Round 1 Seat Allotment List. If you are allotted a seat, you must download the official "Seat Allotment Letter."
Step 3: Physical Document Verification & Admission
Once you secure an allotment, you must physically report to the assigned institute within the specified dates. Carry the following documents (Originals + Photocopies):
- Assam D.El.Ed PET 2026 Admit Card & Scorecard
- Seat Allotment Letter
- Class 10th & 12th Marksheets and Pass Certificates
- Age Proof (Birth Certificate or Class 10 Admit Card)
- Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) / Domicile of Assam
- Caste / EWS Certificate (If applicable)
- Recent Passport Size Photographs
Step 4: Subsequent Rounds (Round 2 & 3)
If you do not get a seat in Round 1, do not panic! SCERT will publish a vacancy list followed by a Round 2 and Round 3 allotment. If necessary, a Phase 2 of online counselling will also be initiated for remaining vacant seats.
Fee Structure for Admission (Govt vs Private)
A major concern for students is the course fee. The fee structure for the 2-year D.El.Ed course varies significantly between Government (DIET/Normal School/BTC) and Private (NCTE recognized) institutes:
- 🏛️ Government Institutes (DIET/BTC): The admission and tuition fees are highly subsidized by the state government. You can expect the total course fee to range very nominally (approx. ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 per year, subject to SCERT final guidelines).
- 🏢 Private Institutes: The fees in private Teacher Education Institutes are significantly higher. It generally ranges from ₹27,000 to ₹40,000+ per year depending on the specific college infrastructure and location.
Note: Hostel fees, uniform charges, and examination fees are generally extra and payable directly to the respective institute.
