The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, has officially released the admission notice for the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the academic session 2026-2028. Course Overview
The D.El.Ed. course is a recognized teacher training program designed to prepare candidates for teaching at the elementary level (Class I to VIII). The training is conducted in NCTE-recognized institutes across the state, including DIET, CTE, Normal Schools, BITE, BTC, and private Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs).
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] examination from a recognized Board/Council. A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (excluding marks in the optional/extra/fourth subject) is required.
- Relaxation: A relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks is provided for candidates belonging to SC, ST(P), and ST(H) categories.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 34 years of age as of 1st July 2026. A relaxation of 2 years in the upper age limit is applicable for SC, ST(P), and ST(H) candidates.
- Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 serves as the selection mechanism. The examination consists of objective-type questions (MCQs) covering the following areas:
- General English: Vocabulary, Grammar, and Comprehension.
- General Knowledge: History of Assam, Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, Geography, and Science.
- Reasoning: Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
- Teaching Aptitude: Understanding of child development and educational scenarios.
- General Mathematics, Science, and Social Science: Based on the standard 10+2 curriculum.
